Lisbon, 2025
The short version
Three years assisting editorial photographers in Berlin taught me light. The decade since taught me everything that happens to a photograph after the shutter — the crop, the grade, the layout, the shelf it ends up on — and that a frame which ignores all that doesn't survive it.
So that's how I shoot. Campaigns are built around a repeatable rig before anyone touches a product; portraits get one roll and no second sitting; editorial gets whatever the location gives and nothing it doesn't. Art direction, casting and retouch stay in the same pair of hands, which is why the pictures still look like mine after they've been through someone else's grid.
The work is quiet, high-contrast and built for contact with reality — newsprint, phone screens, retail shelves, other people's layouts. I shoot for magazines, roasters, small labels and the occasional bank, mostly out of a daylight studio in Lisbon, and regularly somewhere with a worse forecast.

How it went
First assistant
Three years loading film and carrying stands for editorial photographers in Berlin.
Went independent
First solo commission — a restaurant story that ran to fourteen pages.
First campaign
A swim label took a chance on an editorial kid. Commercial work has anchored the book since.
Studio in Lisbon
A daylight room, a print wall, and enough space to stop renting one.
Booking now
The year splits between commissions and the ongoing portrait series.
